Autumn Breaks

Dartmoor is a great place to visit at all times of the year but autumn is a very special time.  The autumn colours on the moor are second to none, the hues of the bracken, gorse and the heather as well as the deciduous native woodlands paint a spectacular landscape not to be missed.  Often our autumns have much more settled weather with lots of cooler sunny days, crisp misty mornings. it is also a lot quieter on the moor, less traffic, much calmer time for anyone wanting a relaxing break. We are in an ideal position for walking or cycling on the moor,  visiting towns and villages to sample some of the high quality local produce as well as browsing the local antique shops etc.

Winter Breaks

Winter can bring the most spectacular scenery with frosty mornings and crisp clear days as well as the possibility of a sprinkling of snow.  Ideal for enjoying cosy pub lunches with lovely log fires and real ales.  We ideally positioned for enjoying the moorland scenery or nearby Exeter or Plymouth for Christmas shopping.  The nearby coast can be very dramatic at this time of year as well with the coastal villages  much quieter than in the summer season. An ideal time to visit our cosy cottages, for a short or longer break or get away from it all at Christmas and New Year.  We can recommend local hostelries for Christmas meals etc
